How to practice this week’s rule:

  1. If you have not already done so, write a personal commission. Use the techniques explained in last week's rule. Think about what you want your life to become within the next five years. Write a story, or draw a picture about that perfect life five years from now.
  2. Write a list of a few long-term objectives that might help you realize that future.
  3. Consider the mid term-objectives you'll need to achieve in order to reach your long-term objectives. Remember that mid-term objectives essentially bridge the gap between where you are now and where you want to be in the future. Consider all of your resources when planning your future. What resources do you have and how should you spend them?
  4. Create some short-term goals that will help you move towards your perfect future. Short-term goals need to happen with the next few months, or even better, the next few days.
  5. Make sure all short-term goals are MASTERed goals. Make sure that you can keep every promise that you make to yourself.
  6. Reward yourself for every MASTERed goal you achieve.
